I love a good Summer Reading Challenge! I am not sure if you did them as a kid but I really feel like it helped propel me into reading on my own for enjoyment. Not what my teacher wanted me to read or I had to read for school but finding books that interested me at the time. The stats on what Summer Reading can do for students and the way it can stop the “Summer Slide” for their academic studies make Summer reading in of of itself SO worth it! We are SO fortunate to have so many Summer Reading Challenges available to our kids locally!

Barnes and Noble-
Participation is a fun and easy way for kids to earn free books. They simply read a designated number of books – library books, books borrowed from friends or books bought at Barnes & Noble – write about their favorite part in our Reading Journal, and bring a completed Reading Journal to a Barnes & Noble bookstore. Children then choose their free book from the books listed on the Reading Journal and collect their free book from a store near them during July and August.
