There are SO many fun Events going on in the Tri-Cities this Spring Break ( March 29th-April 6th) to see all the events see our Tri-Cities Kids’ Events Guide: http://tricitiestoddler.com/tri-cities-kids-events/ This Spring Break Guide is focused on things to do around town that aren’t specifically events but would make for fun Spring Break Activites if you are in town for Spring Break! If you have little littles who aren’t in school yet like always when there is a school break just know some things you normally go to may be a little more crowded than they are during non-breaks (just sometimes good to know what to expect going in!) For each thing listed will include if we have a Video Highlight of it with more information about it in the caption as well if you want more info! 

 First list is businesses or things to go to! The second list is stuff you can do on your own around town or at your house. Hope whatever your Spring Break looks like that it is a good one! Third List is Some Day Trip Options if you are looking to get out of the Tri-Cities for a bit!

An Indoor Playhouse for kids of all ages but geared towards kids ages 0-6. Located by TJ Maxx in Kennewick! You pay for your kiddos and can stay as long as you like as long as they are open! There is a parent area to work or hang out while kids play! Columbia Basin BMX Track-

Did you know the public can use the track  if it is not and when there are not practices or races? Can’t use the starting gate but can use the rest like a pump track which is pretty neat! Spring Break Week they said their practices & races are: Monday & Wednesday 6-8pm, race Saturday 12-3pm, Sunday 2-5pm so don’t go out to ride at those times. The BMX group also has races for kids as young as 2 on balance bikes! Go Earn a Local Junior Ranger Badges-

2) Sacajawea State Park and Interpretive Center should be reopening in April- (Call before going as there is no one there right now for me to call and verify!) See their website for more details! Get a Day Pass to the Tri-Cities Airport (PSC) to watch Planes take off and Play at their indoor Playground-

(Just know it might be busier/more crowded during Spring Break) It is Free to go play at the Tri-Cities PSC Airport (Just need to pay the  short term parking fee if driving there!) It just is a little complicated getting a pass. You can only apply for a pass once per person per month and you have to sign up no earlier than 24 hours in advance but before around 7pm at night. Then you clear a background check from the Port of Pasco Police. Have your Kid Get a Library Card or Check out a New to You Library!- 

Did you know that now ALL residents of the Tri-Cities can get a library card at both Mid-Columbia Libraries AND Richland Public Library as well as Walla Walla Rural Libraries and Walla Walla Library! Check out a Tumbleweeds Tourist Pass from Richland Public Library-

Richland Public Library offers library card holders the chance to check out the Tumbleweeds Tourist Pass allowing you to get to reserve for free to get free admission to several locations (one at a time) The whole thing is online (once you have your library card which you have to go in person to get) They have a whole list of locations available if you can find a day they are  not in use: Sage Center in Boardman, REACH Museum, Maryhill Art Museum in the Gorge, Yakima Valley Museum, Mobius Discovery Center in Spokane and many more including Discovery Pass to go to Washington State Parks and an Oregon State Park pass as well! Such a neat resource and you don’t even need to go into the Library to pick up the pass- at least the one we got was all digital so we were good to go! LIGO Exploration Center-

LIGO Stands for Laser Interferometer Gravitational-Wave Observatory) I am going to let their website do the explaining of what all they do: “LIGO’s multi-kilometer-scale gravitational wave detectors use laser interferometry to measure the minute ripples in space-time caused by passing gravitational waves from cataclysmic cosmic events such as colliding neutron stars or black holes, or by supernovae” The work they are doing there won a Noble Prize! Located in Columbia Center Mall close to the Food Court and the JC Penney’s Entrance. Can buy arcade cards there and it is the same kind that works at both Quake Park and Quake Arcade in the Mall.  Lifequest in Pasco allows you to get a day pass to use their facilities (including their pool!) The Museum at Keewaydin in Downtown Kennewick- 

It is right next to Keewaydin Park, the Benton Franklin Transit Transfer Station and Keewaydin Park Branch of Mid-Columbia Libraries. They have a ton of local history- from old school house to dinosaurs and mammoths as well as kid play stations right next to the adult exhibits which is neat! Volunteer at Animal Shelter-

Currently all of our local animal shelters are maxed out on the number of dogs they can take specifically large dogs. With more animals it means each one gets less time. Great opportunity to go help out and volunteer to help love these animals. (Also nice to have some volunteer experience on their resume/job & college applications) Contact the Shelters to see what the greatest need is and if they can add you in as a volunteer.

Visit the Puzzle Bus in West Richland-

There is a Puzzle Bus in West Richland where you can trade puzzles in good condition! They have a doghouse for donations to Tri-Cities Animal Shelter if you want to drop some supplies while you are there! Long walk or Scooter/Bike Walk on a Trail- 

Some of our favorites are Park at the Lakes Columbia Point Marina Howard Amon, Leslie Groves, WSU Tri-Cities, U.S.S. Triton trails are all connected depending on how far you want to go! 

Visit a Elementary School Playground!-

When we have called in the past the School Districts have said as long as there isn’t’ a lock on the gate or a sign saying stay out you can go play at the playground at the school since it is Public place. Please pay attention and follow all rules on the signs. Could be fun to go to the school your kiddo will go to later if they are younger!

Ideas for Spring Break Day Trips-

SAGE Center Boardman WA-

We have always been curious about this place when we drive by to go to Portland but have never stopped. So we made a day trip of it to go check it out last week when the kids were off school. It was super neat and with the Richland Public Library Tumbleweed Tourist Pass you can reserve it from them to get in for free. Hermiston Funland Playground-

Our FAVORITE Playground! Our kids act like this is Disneyland. It is just so epic. Great place to have a picnic and stay for a while!  FYI bathrooms are closed & when we went a week ago Porta Potty was out of TP so just FYI! Hermiston’s Storybook Trail at Riverfront Park- 

Just opened in March! It is .75 trail by the river with storybook pages along the way! McNary Dam and Hat Rock State Park-

McNary Wildlife Refuge-

Yakima YMCA Aquatic Center-

Yakima YMCA has an indoor Aquatic Center with 2 tunnel slides (that go out of the building and back in), a lazy river and a splash pad as well as a pool and lap pool. It is awesome that it is open to the public- the catch is you have to save your spot 24 hours in advance and they go quickly! Yakima also also has a museum that I have heard has some kids sections but haven’t been there before so can’t speak to that! 

Walla Walla-

Walla Walla has SO much to offer here are a couple of the things we have done when we have gone with kids 

Walla Walla Children’s Museum-

The museum is more like a playhouse but has some educational elements especially for younger kids.  They have a nice enclosed yard area with a boat, an old real fire engine kids can play in and a pretend fire house as well as a sand pit etc.  Here is their website: https://cmww.org/

Walla Walla Pioneer Park & Aviary-

Whitman Mission-

Palouse Falls-

There is SO much to do in Spokane but we often only have a day trip to go explore it all so here are a few things we have checked out!

Cat Tales Wildlife Center, Blue Zoo, Also Spokane’s Kitty Cantina Cat Cafe (there is an age requirement I believe so just look into that before! ) We haven’t been so can’t speak to them
